Christian Sports International
My name is Mark Salazar and I am blessed with an amazing wife, Kristi (17 years) and 2 great kids! I love Jesus, my family and sports. I have a passion for discipleship, to share the Word of God and help people experience a transformed life found in Christ.
In High School I was one of the top 100 players in the nation and turned down the 1997 MLB draft with Houston Astros and took a full scholarship to Long Beach State. God had other plans. After a major car accident I transferred to Shasta College in Redding, CA where God saved me. I had earned another full scholarship to The University of San Diego to play under Coach Rich Hill. During the first semester God was calling me to follow Him. I gave back my scholarship and started coaching High School baseball at Horizon in San Diego. That following summer, one of my former coaches found out that God got a hold of my life and pointed me in the direction of Christian Sports International. I would spend the next 2 summers working baseball camps sharing the Gospel and playing semi-pro baseball at night. 19 years later, God would have us re-unite and have me start CSI out here in the Wild Wild West! I have been serving the Lord through sports and pastoring over the last 20 years. I have been serving as a sports missionary for the last 5 years!
Christian Sports International (CSI)! CSI is a youth sports outreach ministry that presents a Message of hope, love, and purpose through Jesus Christ to the kids that attend our sports programs. We also have men’s ministry events with great speakers, from athletes like former MLB player Sid Bream to guys like Jeff Niklaus. Jeff was one of the helicopter pilots in Mogadishu during the “Black Hawk Down” tragedy in 1993.
I am responsible, and privileged, to trust in God for raising 100% of my ministry support needs. We are praying for monthly partners and 1 time gifts to get us launched and running strong.
